Olajengbesi withdraws remarks and makes a case for more respectful politics

Following the August 2026 Osun governorship election, Pelumi Olajengbesi withdrew earlier remarks about Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo that he acknowledged may have appeared disrespectful.

The exchange had taken place in the highly charged atmosphere surrounding the governorship campaign, during which Olajengbesi served as one of the most visible public voices of the Imole Campaign Council.

His post-election intervention did not erase the political disagreement behind the original comments. Instead, he drew a distinction between disagreement over conduct and language that could be received as personally disrespectful.
